Cardiff Dogs' Home
Cllr Margaret Jones, Executive Member for the Environment said: "The Cardiff Dogs Home looks after more than 1200 dogs a year, and is really committed to caring for all of the dogs in its care. I would urge anyone who has an interest in the welfare of the stray dogs of Cardiff and the work that goes into finding them new homes to think about joining the ‘Friends of Cardiff Dogs Home' group. There are many ways to support Cardiff Dogs' Home. Whether you are able to volunteer your time or make donations, no matter what you do, it all helps."
One reason that 'Friends' has been set up is to help Fundraise for the Dogs Home and we are looking for volunteers to help raise funds, whether as a one off or on a regular basis, either going out and about or from the comfort of your own home.
We're sure you have more of your own ideas so please join in on our forum. We are a very friendly crowd, dedicated to helping the work of the Dogs' Home and would love to see you.

We are doing the next Boot Sale at SULLY on the 17th June.
We now have space in the Store for a whole new supply of goodies to sell.
We want to maximise our space/profit/weight ratio ...... so items like cosmetics, jewellery, candles, tools, DVDs, CDs, small things used for DIY fixes, toys, nice quality glass, doggy items and china would be very, very welcome
I'm learning peeps that electrical items are not great because people ALWAYS ask if they work and I just can't guarantee they do.
Bigger items are welcome but they take up such a lot of space it would be better to bring them along on the day. They usually sell but we don't want to store them week after week.
We're getting organised to sell good label/quality clothes too.
Rhian and I are going to be at the Store on Monday morning so if you have Booty you want to donate for the 17th please PM me. You can drop it off at my house in Llandaff North over the weekend and I will take it to the Store on Monday.
Now is the time for a Spring clearout all you hoarders

A big, big thank you to Becks and Rob who cleared out their attic and brought some fantastic car booty around to my home in readiness for the Boot Sale on Sunday (helped by their lovely little girl Erin). Sarah was so very happy when she saw them, recognising them immediately.

wtg Rach & Rhian & John I expected to find Rach driving home with an empty car, but she'd only gone and bought stuff
Nice mirror Rach
I love everything about the booties - no landfill, and one persons cracked plate is another's collectible missing piece
We have had some fabulous quality donations too, which really do help bump up the takings, and Rach & Co never miss an opportunity to promote the dogs and the Home
Brilliant result, well done everyone who brings and everyone who buys, and special thanks to our June 'turn booty into looty' facilitors, Rach, Rhian, & John

Here are the Sunday morning Bessemer gang at work
Many thanks to Rhian, John and Eric. They are the Master Car Boot team.
We had great donations this month.
Becks, all the toys flew out and made lots of little girls very happy. Erin and her Grandad came to say 'hello'. Claire's friend's 'Fancies' were also very popular. One lady fell in love with the china doll in the photo and forked out a load of cash for her.
My new feature in the Car Boot updates is going to be the most bizarre item we sold. Apologies to anyone who donated it!!!!!!!!!
This month's prize goes to A soya milk extractor!
Thanks to Anita for our tarpaulin sheet which saved our goods in a heavy shower.
Also a big, big thank you to the seriously gorgeous Steve, who YET AGAIN refused to take any money for our pitch and gave me a kiss instead.
Last Sunday is next week so keep hunting out your goodies folks. Sure sellers are jewellery, mobile phones, cosmetics, candles and nice pictures.
Car Boots have raised over £1000 this year and we can keep the money rolling in for our lovely dogs with your help!
